Adobe Illustrator CS6 to get packaging feature

For a long time, one of the most requested features for Adobe Illustrator has been the ability to package files, the way InDesign and Quark XPress do. That is, take the AI file plus fonts and linked images, and copy them into a new folder, so you can hand it off to a coworker or a commercial printer.

You can do this using a third-party plug-in called Flight Check (made by Markzware), but Adobe is making this feature a built-in part of Illustrator CS6. Though there’s a catch: you’ll get the feature only if you use Illustrator as a Creative Cloud member, not if you purchased a license outright.

Adobe hasn’t released the feature yet, but here’s a sneak peak, courtesy of Adobe evangelist Terry White:
