Did you ever need to create a list of random dates in Excel? Someone recently asked how to do this.
Creating a list of sequential dates is easy. (You know how to do this…. right?)
But what this user needed was a lot of random, non-sequential dates. I think he was testing a new sheet he was creating. Or backfilling an expense report, I don’t really know.
The problem isn’t as straightforward as you might think. The Date function? Have fun finding all the weird stuff, like February 31.
There’s a simpler way to do it, but you have to understand how dates work in Excel.
